In this video, Lightroom Enhance Details feature is compared with Iridient.
IRIDIENT X TRANSFORMER REDDIT SOFTWARE
Back in January 2017 Iridient X-Transformer was in beta testing but the results were impressive enough for me to purchase the software right away. There are a few ways to deal with Lightrooms issues with handling Fuji RAW files. Luckily most of the XTrans presets I’ve made translate across the bodies, but they are definitely different then say a Canon 5D or Sony RX1. Just over a year ago I wrote about using a then new piece of software called Iridient X-Transformer which dramatically improved my results when processing photos from my Fujifilm X System cameras.
I’ve shot with X-E1s, X100s (various), the X-T1 and X-T20. The unsharpened version of the DNG RAW file is. Determined to make it work, I purchased Iridient Digitals X-Transformer, a RAF to DNG converter that applies Iridients Fuji RAW reading method to a DNG file that Adobe softwares can interpret like my Nikon and Sony raw files. Those Xtrans sensors require some different Mojo to make them work. In this example you again see a section of the image at 200 but this time processed using Iridient XTransformer. Iridient X Transformer uses the same demosaic processing algorithms found in Developer. I still use Lightroom / Photoshop for Astro as I haven’t figured out a good workflow using COP, but that’s about the only legacy use I have for LR/PS.Īll that said, the settings and tuning is definitely different between say a Canon or Sony and a Fuji. Obviously to each his/her own, but I since switching to COP I have had no complaints at all. By default in beta 2 Lightroom sharpening, luminance noise reduction and color noise reduction will all be set to zero on initial import of the DNG into Lightroom. IRIDIENT X TRANSFORMER REDDIT UPDATE
As of writing this article, Iridient X-transformer had not released the update for X-H1. I do a lot of BW processing, and the capabilities of the platform always work well for me. The new beta 2 release of Iridient X-Transformer now has some new options to optionally set Lightroom's default sharpening and noise reduction adjustments to zero. I use Iridient X-transformer as a plugin in LR as a short-term fix. I find the raw processing for both systems much better in COP. I eventually switched to Capture One and haven’t looked back.
